Notwaste is a family-based business based in Quinte West, Ontario, Canada. It was officially launched on October 1, 2019 after many years of preparation. Rivendell Bongard, owner and operator had envisioned an outdoor centre for years, but with the completion of the outdoor sauna, the vision became reality.
All services and preparation activities are completed with a zero-waste mindset. Mr Bongard’s graduate degree in environmental science ensures all forest management practices are completed in a sustainable manner, vegetables are grown onsite and the environment is treated with respect. Notwaste is not a waste of your time and money if you believe getting back to the basics is important.
What are the services?
- The Russian banya (aka outdoor sauna with a twist) is the primary wellness/experiential service and is unique in Eastern Ontario.
- The forest therapy walks follow a wellness theme. A minimum of 4 people is required for one to be conducted.
- The private clay tennis can be rented out for amateurs and professionals.
- In addition, selected wood products can be custom-made to your specifications.
All of these experiential options fall under the Notwaste umbrella of services and are located on 32 acres of groomed trails here in Murray Township just outside the city of Trenton, Ontario.
In January 2021, the largest Canadian paid circulation magazine for the mature market “ZOOMER” officially acknowledged the Notwaste Russian Banya as a wellness staycation in Eastern Canada.
“If you’d rather stay on dry land but still want to feel like you’ve gone to a spa across the sea, Ontario’s Bay of Quinte is home to the Notwaste Russian Banya Experience.” This was the “ZOOMER” professional suggestion.
